Boyisms

Yesterday morning when I told the boys we would be going to a potluck later in the day...
Their response: "Yes! We get a night off!"
Me: "A night off from what?"
Them: "A night off from eating at home."
I didn't know it was really that bad. :)

Today when Elijah asked for a Tupperware.... and then filled it with the remainder of Brant's shaving cream bottle....
Elijah: "Now all we need to do is add hot water to the bubbles and it will be a hot tub for our Lego men."

June Berries

This was my sweet Ez last year in So Cal, enjoying "raspberry hats." Good memories from last summer...

And this was TODAY... one year later, almost to the day. YES, he is eating REAL "raspberry hats" with REAL, FRESH raspberries. I found them at the new grocery store in the big city yesterday and almost fainted in the aisle. Don't ask me how in the world they managed to get such nice berries in our little corner of the world. And don't ask how much I paid for them.... was worth every penny. :)
A good gift from the Lord reminding us that He is taking care of us even here.

Don't mention how much my baby has grown in a year.
Makes me cry.

Rats and other excitement this week

I got the game "Dutch Blitz" for Christmas this past year. It was one of those "I've always wanted and never had ten extra bucks on hand to buy when I see it in the store" type of things that makes a perfect Christmas present. One of my teammates loves the game and she and I can whip out the cards at lightening speeds. The boys love all types of games and found the cards and asked me to teach them. We modified the rules a tad and practiced on teams for a week, but now they can play themselves and we play at least a dozen games a day. Nothing near lightning speeds, but Ez can actually plunk those cards down pretty fast.

And speaking of the Ez, last week our little red headed man had an asthma attack for the first time. Would have freaked out except Brant knew exactly what to do.... give the boy a huge cup of coffee to drink! And get him into the air conditioning ASAP.... which probably doesn't make a lot of sense, but it was such a hot, muggy day, everyone was having a hard time catching a breath. The boys spent the next hour in the office (which, yes, is as junky as it looks in the pic - kinda our catch-all room) watching a "What's in the Bible?" movie and cooling off. Really like those movies if you've never seen them. We only have two, so don't go writing and calling me bad names if there is heresy in episode nine - haven't gotten there yet! So far, I really like them and the boys have learned a ton.

Elijah took this picture... of our kitchen being re-packed. No, we are not moving. We have had a major rat invasion. Totally nasty. We wake up in the morning with food all over the floor and bites taken out of all the produce. Rat droppings all in the cabinets.... Our dear house helper spent all last Friday bleaching everything and then we packed it up and it's sitting in the middle of our living room. The *funny* thing is we have never had a cat before ever and we got one a couple months back to help with any rats we may encounter... and we have had major rat issues for the first time living overseas... and the cat has been totally worthless. So have all the traps and poison and glue....

In other news the head cook at the guest house quit last week. I caught her cheating on her time sheets and she was ticked when I confronted her. She's been threatening to quit for a while, so it wasn't too big of a surprise, but we are just packed this month and cooks are really hard to find here.... so I'm going to have a very busy summer ahead unless we can find a new cook soon.
