I was reading on a friend's blog about her gardening efforts with her kids and was having one of those "I wish I was in America" moments so I could plant a garden with my kids.... and then kinda realized that you don't have to be in America to plant stuff. :) So here are my first attempts - growing bell peppers with the boys.
You can plant bell peppers with just the seeds from a bell pepper. I figured this out a couple years ago when my house ladies at our first house kept asking to take the seeds from my bell peppers. I finally asked why and they told me about planting the seeds; I tried it and we did get a couple small ones, but the weather was too cool. Shouldn't have that problem here. :)
Elijah planted seeds from a red bell pepper in nice straight lines. Caleb had a green bell pepper and made a couple big holes and scraped all his seeds in.
After a couple weeks, it's easy to tell whose planter is whose!
I need to thin them out some.
Bell peppers are expensive here, so hoping we can get a good crop! Will keep you posted...
I am so proud of my little farmers. Good job boys! When I was in kindergarten, our teacher had us plant radishes in our class garden. After the harvest, she helped us make radish and butter sandwiches. I still remember how good they were! Maybe you boys can try the same thing with your peppers. Let me know what you think of your culinary endeavors. Love ~ Grandma
